Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 June 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By creating an account or using Jobivo ("the platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These Terms apply to all users — customers, professionals (individuals and companies), and visitors.

2. The Platform

Jobivo is a marketplace that connects customers who need services with verified professionals who provide those services. We are an intermediary — we do not employ professionals, and we do not directly provide any trade or artisan services ourselves.

The contract for services is between the customer and the professional. Jobivo facilitates the booking process, payment escrow, and dispute resolution.

Independent Contractor Status: All professionals on Jobivo are independent contractors, not employees, agents, or partners of Jobivo. Jobivo does not supervise, direct, or control the manner in which professionals perform their services. Jobivo is not liable for the acts, omissions, or conduct of any professional.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the platform
  • You must be legally capable of entering contracts under Nigerian law
  • One person may not operate multiple accounts
  • Suspended or banned accounts may not be re-created

4. Customer Obligations

  • Provide accurate information when booking a service
  • Pay through the platform — never pay a professional directly outside of Jobivo
  • Release escrow payment promptly once you are satisfied with the work
  • Raise disputes within 72 hours of a job being marked complete
  • Treat professionals with respect and not harass or threaten them
  • Leave honest, accurate reviews based on your genuine experience

5. Professional Obligations

  • Complete KYC verification before accepting bookings
  • Represent your skills, qualifications, and availability honestly
  • Show up for booked jobs on time or communicate in advance if unable to
  • Only accept payments through the platform escrow system
  • Do not solicit customers to pay outside the platform
  • Maintain professionalism and comply with all relevant safety and industry standards
  • Do not subcontract jobs without the customer's knowledge and written consent
  • Obtain any licences, permits, or insurance required by Nigerian law for your trade

6. Payments and Escrow

When a booking is confirmed, the customer pays into an escrow account managed by Jobivo via Paystack. The professional cannot access these funds until the customer releases payment or a dispute is resolved in the professional's favour.

Jobivo charges a platform fee deducted from each payout to the professional. The fee amount is shown at the time of booking.

Approved refunds are returned to the customer's original payment method within 5–7 business days.

7. Cancellation Policy

The following cancellation rules apply to all bookings:

  • Before the professional accepts: Full refund. Escrow is released immediately.
  • After acceptance, 24+ hours before scheduled time: Full refund, provided the cancellation is made at least 24 hours before the agreed start time.
  • After acceptance, less than 24 hours before scheduled time: 50% refund. The remaining 50% is released to the professional as a cancellation fee to compensate for lost availability.
  • After the professional has arrived or work has begun: No automatic refund. Either party may raise a dispute within 72 hours and Jobivo will mediate.
  • No-show by the professional: Full refund if the professional fails to show up without prior notice. Contact support at hello@jobivo.ng to report this.

Deposit-based bookings: where a deposit has already been released to the professional, only the unspent balance remains eligible for refund under the above rules.

8. Dispute Resolution

If a customer and professional cannot agree on the outcome of a job, either party may raise a dispute on the booking page within 72 hours of the job being marked complete.

Jobivo's trust and safety team will review the evidence submitted by both parties — including completion notes, photos, and communications — and issue a decision within 3 business days. During this time, escrow funds remain held.

Jobivo's decision in a dispute is final and binding. By using the platform, you agree to accept this outcome. Jobivo's role in disputes is that of a neutral mediator; we do not guarantee any particular outcome.

9. Prohibited Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on Jobivo:

  • Impersonating another person or submitting false KYC documents
  • Soliciting or accepting payments outside the platform
  • Posting false, misleading, or manipulated reviews
  • Threatening, harassing, or discriminating against any user
  • Using the platform for illegal activities under Nigerian law
  • Attempting to circumvent or reverse-engineer the platform
  • Creating multiple accounts to game the review or rating system
  • Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the platform

10. Account Suspension, Termination and Appeals

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraud, endangers another user's safety, or receives consistent justified complaints. Suspended professionals forfeit any pending earnings held in active disputes. We will provide notice where practicable but are not obligated to do so for severe violations.

Appealing a suspension: If you believe your account was suspended in error, you may appeal within 14 days of receiving the suspension notice by emailing appeals@jobivo.ng with the subject line "Account Appeal — [your registered email]". Include your account details and the reasons you believe the suspension was incorrect.

We will review your appeal within 5 business days and respond with our decision. Appeals decisions are final. Accounts suspended for fraud, identity falsification, or safety violations are not eligible for appeal.

11. Limitation of Liability

Jobivo is a marketplace and is not responsible for the quality of services provided by professionals. We do not guarantee that any professional will complete a job to your satisfaction. All professionals are independent contractors.

To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, Jobivo's total liability to any user in connection with the platform shall not exceed the total amount paid by that user to Jobivo in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Intellectual Property

All content on Jobivo — including the logo, design, code, and written content — is the property of Jobivo and may not be reproduced without written permission. User-generated content (reviews, profile photos, bios) remains the property of the user but you grant Jobivo a licence to display it on the platform.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by email and by displaying a notice on the platform. Continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance.
